Traffic Question 8:
Which path do you take for the left turn?
A. A relaxed, easy turn
B. A turn that only uses one lane in the intended street.
Moliner’s Answer:
A or B, it doesn’t matter.
It really depends on the situation.
- Example 1: if you’re on the phone, you can’t really be expected to use both hands on the wheel to make such a sharp turn. Or to slow down for it. The other driver will stop and wait for you; no worries. Go ahead and use both lanes.
- Example 2: There may be something blocking the view of the side street. If you can’t see around the turn, feel free to drive like there’s no other car. If you can’t see them, it means they aren’t there. Go ahead and use both lanes.
Conventional Answer:
B. You should always stay in your own lane.
You can’t count on another driver to do any particular thing. Or to even be paying attention.
